Johnson’s Cemetery (Camden County) – An 1854 document shows that the property was deeded to Jacob Johnson, Anthony Collings and Luke Derrickson. It was a non-sectarian Black cemetery.

It was a burial ground for escaped enslaved people and Civil War soldiers. Camden’s first Black police officer is buried there. It was at the center of an 1890 news story of a Black man found naked at the cemetery with a rope around his neck. The city acquired it in 1953 and it has since been converted into a public park.
